The Creator

Born in Antwerp in 1940, John Ceulemans started polishing diamonds at the age of 12. Coming from a family that has been polishing diamonds for generations, John passionately acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to become a 'master polisher'.

Many of the biggest diamonds ever polished in Antwerp were cut by John personally, sometimes taking more than a full year to polish one stone.

Among them were 5 diamonds of more than 100ct in D-colour, some of them now being part of the famous private collection of the Sultan of Brunei.

In the last years of his professional career, John devoted his time and energy into achieving his ultimate professional dream, creating a new diamond cut which had far more sparkle and fire than the old round brilliant cut which was developed circa 1911.

After more than a year of calculating, drawing and measuring, the totally innovative 88facets JC-Millennium Cut diamond was finally created at the end of 1999 for the new millennium.

The Diamond

The 88facets diamond has 16 sides and is polished with a table and 88 symmetrical facets.

The most substantial differences from the old 58 facets round brilliant cut diamonds is the girdle and the base facet design.

The girdle consists of 16 facets that go up and down symmetrically, while the under side is designed with three different angles.

The complex composition of these facets creates a much stronger brilliancy than any classical diamond cut. The difference becomes even much more striking when the diamond is being turned and viewed from different angles.

Every diamond has a unique serial number which is engraved on the girdle by laser

Every diamond comes with a certificate of origin, personally signed by the creator - John Ceulemans, mentioning the serial number, the quality and certificate number from HRD.

Every JC Millennium Cut diamond has a full certificate from HRD (High Diamond Council from Antwerp) , the internationally highly recognized diamond grading laboratory and the first one in the world to comply with ISO-standards for the consistency of its diamond grading.

"JC-Millennium" and "88facets" are a registered design and brand. The 88facets diamond is only manufactured by the licensed producer in Antwerp, a further guarantee of exclusivity for the consumer and distributor.

Manufacturing

The production of the 88facets diamond is far more complicated and time-consuming than regular diamonds. High-tech equipment combined with highly skilled Antwerp craftsmanship is essential to give each stone the unique JC-Millennium fire.

The JC Millennium Cut Diamond is available from 0.30ct to over 5 carats.
